What is the lifespan of solar systems? | Solar Manufacturers and installers quote 25 years or more which may vary according to equipment quality, its site environment and level of maintenance required |
How much will a solar roof system cost & how much will I save? | This depends upon a number of factors: 1) Your energy needs 2) your current energy rate per kwh & costs 3) the available roof space 4)Current energy efficiency of the building and energy production 5) How big a solar system is right sized after the other factors finalised. The more the grid usage is reduced the greater the cost and emissions saved. Our goal is to design a system that feasibly maximises savings and reduces emissions to assist the climate fight. |
How much maintenance is required? | Maintenance is generally minimal keeping panels quite clean of debris and dirt with washing to optimise performance. Costs vary with size and roof height so range from low hundreds upwards annually. |
How Much Energy is generated by say, one Kilowatt? | This varies by location. In Queensland, a kilowatt can generate over 1500 kilowatt hours average annually, whilst in Sydney ,the average could be 1460 kilowatts and Melbourne 1300 kilowatts per annum. |
Is there seasonal energy generation variation? | Yes. During winter months, generation is lower than in summer months which climb back up starting in August. |
Why does the roof need to be reviewed? | Apart from verifying the amount of free clean space to allow for solar panel installation, the roofs structural integrity needs checking as solar panels average 22kg . Therefore, a roof has to be able to hold a quantity of weight being installed. Also review to ascertain if any major roof leaks which need repair before panels installed. The installer has insurance for any roof damage which is unlikely. |
What if a roof found not to be strong enough? | There are lightweight and flexible solar panels which although more expensive and less efficient generators can potentially provide feasible power solutions.> |
What if I need to move the system for some reason? | If moving to a different building, generally PV Panels are installed to withstand strong winds. However they can be removed, taken down and re-installed. There are costs for removal and reinstalled to restart generation. However if a business wants to start now to capture energy cost savings but may be possibility of moving premises within 2/4 yrs, there is a solar array system designed for easy install and removal which may be a feasible solution which we can offer. |
What about Battery Storage and EV Chargers? | We can supply these products. Battery storage is costly and not always economical so can extend payback periods and low ROI. Therefore a serious feasibility would be recommended first. EV chargers can provide useful charging during the day for businesses with EVs, whether for staff or business use. |
